Born in Washington DC, a young Aaron Phillips [AP] began his career in music as a songwriter when a mutual friend introduced him to the prolific Teddy Riley. They co- wrote the hit Kelly Price record “Love sets you free,” which went to number 1 on the Gospel Charts and peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. A successful platform from which AP would go on to write with a plethora of acclaimed producers including Chucky Thompson, known for his work with Sean [P-Diddy] Combs, Mary J Blige and The Notorious BIG.
AP was integrally involved from conception to marketing on projects for Mandy Moore, Mary J Blige and Pink. As a result, he built close personal relationships with senior executives at some of the industry’s most celebrated labels including MCA, Universal, EMI, Sony BMG, W.E.A and Capital Records.
Perfectly poised to transition into management, in 2005 AP orchestrated the European launch of Dante Thomas following the release of his award winning single “She’s Miss California,” which topped the German Charts and generated a significant fan-base across the continent. Subsequently, the album “Fly” ranked Top 10 in the European charts.
In 2012, AP joined ranks with Breyon Prescott at Chameleon Entertainment, managing promising young talent including the Def Jam recording artist Nikki Williams, as well as the distinguished task of co-executive producing Dr. Dre’s highly anticipated upcoming album.
Currently in 2016-17 he is working with Pras from the Fugees on several projects, also completing the second album for actor Jeremy Renner, and teamed up with Collins Ave to produce a television show called “Behind the Beat”.
